MATERIALS AND SOURCING
In my jewelry i use gold and silver noble metals in the alloys that bare a bit of beautiful rose copper. It adds the hardness and the warmer touch. These metals don’t provoke any allergies and don’t have any additions.
Only 75% of Gold and 25% balance of Silver + Copper depending on the colour we want to achieve.
I offer three types of gold alloys and one silver
WHITE
Night sky moon colour metal, with the bigger percentage of silver than copper. Most of the times our eye is used to see white gold in a very white almost stainless steel kind of shade, that’s because commercially it gets covered by the layer of Rhodium, another noble metal from our earth, check the table of elements.
But even if the colour is attractive it goes away with time, i don’t find it very authentic and prefer to keep the original colour of white gold. Its a bit yellowish, a bit greyish. very mystical. Bares all the silver mystical qualities and visual aspect. But it doesn’t tarnish, doesn’t oxidise, its hard and dense as it is the gold.
YELLOW
Gold is the metal of the goddesses. It unmistakingly takes us to the cosmic feelings. Gold doesn’t get produced by the earth. Therefore its scarce on this planet. During the big bang sparkles from the collision got stuck in our core and we find it sometimes in the mining processes. Its rare here and it does give us some kind of out of this world power.
ROSE
For me, it is the most beautiful shade of gold. even though it come with the same purity of 75% gold. It has more rose tone. It fits perfectly with the white and grey gems. Its warmer for me and its harder against the bumps. Its not screaming, its has a low and confident voice. It fits perfectly with white gold pieces. For me it awakes the nostalgic feelings of the pieces of 14k-585° that our parents were using, but now in a better quality, thought through design.
VERMEIL
is a Sterling Silver 925° covered with the layers of 18k (750°) gold. Layers of Gold protect the polished shine and give the pieces the rich warm color. It can also be covered with the white gold (rhodium) by special order to underline the cold white color and protect silver from oxidising. They wear out with friction.
STERLING SILVER
is an alloy of 92,5% of fine silver and 7,5% of copper added for the additional endurance
SOURCING
I have been asking myself where the gold that is so sought after comes from, and i found so much of the social injustice information. Honestly to the level where you even start questioning the whole need of your celebrations. War sponsoring, cents per gram paid to the women who spend days decanting it in the rivers of Sudan, to pay just their alimentation, as they can only sell it to the local military groups. They already sell it to the market with the stock exchange world agreed prices and all the profit goes to the gun purchase to keep to country in their state. There is no foreseeable end. And i refuse to form a part in it.
Therefore i found the association that controls the process of mining, distribution and final jeweler usage. at least i make sure, that the money we pay for the metal is reinvested in the infrastructure of the village. That there is no chemical outtake of mercury in the river mixed with the drinking water and no zinc in the air that spreads in some separation and cleaning processes, because of our desire to commemorate beauty. No children working. and miners are not taken advantage of uncountable hours.
You know, in many of these mines, its difficult to count how much gold was actually extracted and a lot goes unregistered to the pockets of the mining factory owner. But i think the metal comes from the earth, its everyones. and people who mine it, who live at this earth have to profit first. So i create this possibility for me and you to make something we love and make sure we don’t provoke more harm and don’t partake in this way of extraction and gold consumerism.
