MATERIALS AND SOURCING

In my jewellery I use gold and silver noble metals in the alloys that bare a bit of beautiful rose copper. It adds hardness and a warmer touch. These metals don not provoke any allergies and do not have any additions.
Only 75% of gold and 25% balance of silver + copper depending on the colour we want to achieve.

I offer three types of gold alloys and one silver:

WHITE

Night sky moon colour metal, with a bigger percentage of silver than copper. Most of the time, our eye is used to seeing white gold in a very white almost stainless steel kind of shade, that is because commercially it gets covered by a layer of rhodium, another noble metal.

Even if the colour is attractive it goes away with time, I do not find it very authentic and prefer to maintain the original colour of white gold. It is a bit yellowish, a bit greyish, very mystical. It bares the mystical qualities and visual aspect of silver. Yet it does not tarnish, does not oxidise and it is hard and dense thanks to being gold.

YELLOW

Gold is the metal of the goddesses. It unmistakingly brings us cosmic feelings. Gold does not get produced on earth. Therefore it is scarce on this planet. During the Big Bang, sparkles from the collision got stuck in our core layer, thus we find them sometimes in the mining process. It is rare here and it does give us some kind of out of this world sensation.

ROSE

For me, it is the most beautiful shade of gold. even though it comes with the same purity as 75% gold. It has a more rose tone. It fits perfectly with white and grey gems. It is warmer for me and it is harder against bumps. It is not screaming, it has a low and confident voice. It fits perfectly with white gold pieces. For me it awakes the nostalgic feelings of the pieces of 14k-585° that our parents were using, but now in a better quality, and a thought through design.

VERMEIL

This is a Sterling Silver 925° covered with layers of 18k (750°) gold. The layers of gold protect the polished shine and give the pieces a rich warm color. It can also be covered with white gold (rhodium) by special order to enhance a cold white color and protect the silver from oxidising. It wears out with friction.

STERLING SILVER

This is an alloy of 92,5% of fine silver and 7,5% of copper added for additional endurance.

SOURCING

I have been asking myself where gold - that is so sought after - comes from, and I found out so much social injustice information. War sponsoring, cents per gram paid to the women who spend days decanting it in the rivers of Sudan, to pay just their nourishment, the fact that they can only sell it to local paramilitary groups. They in turn, sell it to the market at stock exchange world agreed prices and the profit can end in weapon purchases.

Therefore I found an association that studies and certifies the process of mining, distribution and final jeweller usage. At least I make sure that the money we pay for the metal is reinvested in the infrastructure of the village. That there is no chemical outtake of mercury in their rivers mixed with their drinking water and no zinc in the air that spreads in some separation and cleaning processes, because of our desire to create beauty. No children working, and that miners are not taken advantage of through working uncountable hours.

In many of these mines, it is difficult to count how much gold was actually extracted and a lot goes unregistered and into the pockets of the mining factory owner. I believe the metal comes from the earth, it is everyones. and people who mine it, who live on this earth have to profit first. So I offer this possibility for you and I to make something we love and make sure we do not provoke more harm and do not partake in harmful ways of extraction and gold consumerism.

We are fairmined licensed brand. Click here to get to know more info about them

If the piece doesn’t behold the fair mined logo, or you didn’t choose this option on the check out, by default all the metal and trimmings that I work with come from RJC certified supplier. RJCstands for no military action involvement and the least eco print possible application.

I am a member of Catalan association of jewellers and watchmakers JORGC. My collegiate number is:
I pass my pieces through their laboratory and get all the legal support the updates of the jewellery ways.
